A Christmas Story - Behind the scenes of a Holiday Classic
To be clear, I do not consider "A Christmas Story" just a good holiday movie, I consider it one of the best films of all time. From the longing for the perfect Christmas gift, the unexpected bonding between mother and son to the frightening experience of visiting Santa Claus, the film perfectly captures the childhood innocence of Christmas.
Author Caseen Gaines takes fans on an expansive behind-the-scenes journey with insightful interviews with the cast and creators including author Jean Shepherd's inspiration behind the original story and Director Bob Clark's uphill battle to get the film made.
Even casual fans will be enthralled by the detailed descriptions of what went into classic scenes including the "Red Ryder BB Gun", "Flick's tongue frozen to a flagpole" and of course the infamous "leg lamp".
Gaines is an avid fan of the film and his passion for the story makes for an enjoyable read.
